How Our Siding Process Works: 6 Steps

When you hire Aztec Homes for your siding replacement, this is how the process will go from start to finish.

1. Preparation

The first step of the process begins before the siding installation crew arrives after you have decided it’s time to replace your siding. To help your siding replacement go smoothly, there are a few things you can do to prepare your home.

  • Trim back shrubbery near your siding so there is more clearance around your exterior
  • Cut your grass so it will be easier for us to locate and remove stray nails at the end of the installation
  • Remove items hanging on your interior walls as they might shake during the project
  • Clear your driveway to allow better access to your home
  • Make arrangements for your pets to help keep them calm during the installation

2. Removal of the Old Siding

When our installation crew arrives at your home, the first thing we’ll do is remove the old siding from your exterior. If you notice the old siding piled up in your yard during the project, have no fear. Before we complete your installation, we’ll haul all of the old siding away.

During the removal process, we’ll also work carefully to ensure we don’t damage the area beneath your siding.

3. Inspection and Repairs

Once all the old siding is removed, we’ll take time to inspect your exterior walls. We’ll use this as an opportunity to look for signs of wood rot, cracks, water damage, etc. If we notice any areas of concern, we’ll make the necessary repairs to ensure the underlayment is in good shape before installing your new siding material. This is an important step because it helps to prevent future issues from developing with your new siding.

If we discover significant damage that will be more expensive to repair than we originally quoted you for your project, we will talk to you and get your approval before moving forward with the fixes so you’re always in the loop.

4. Insulation and Waterproofing Installation

After your exterior walls are in good shape, we will add new insulation to the walls. If you’d like extra waterproofing barriers added to your exterior, we can install them at this time as well. Adding new insulation will help keep your home at a more comfortable temperature even when we experience different weather extremes.

As a result, you might notice that your energy bills are lower after your new siding is installed.

5. Installation of Your New Siding

At this point, we’ll be ready to move forward with installing your new siding material. Here at Aztec Homes, we proudly install high-quality James Hardie fiber cement siding, which is one of the best siding materials, designed with durability in mind. This siding is available in an array of style options, which you’ll choose during your design consultation.

As your local James Hardie siding expert, we have the necessary skills, training, and experience to install this product correctly so it will last for decades. We also have the correct tools to complete the installation so you can rest easy knowing that your home is in good hands.

6. Final Inspection and Cleanup

Once we finish installing your new siding, we’ll thoroughly inspect it to ensure that everything looks perfect. After we give it the stamp of approval, we’ll remove your old siding materials and any other debris from the installation so your yard is safe to use. If needed, we’ll also wash off your new siding boards to remove any remaining dust and grit.
